Swatara Township, Lebanon County has a population of 5,061 people, as of the 2020 Census. Located in the northern part of Lebanon County, in south central Pennsylvania, Swatara is a predominately rural community with small urbanized areas located along two branches of the Swatara Creek, after which it is named. The Township was incorporated in 1813 from land derived from Bethel and Hanover Townships and the name Swatara is based upon an Iroquois word meaning ‘The Place of Eels’.
